If you will soon find yourself visiting the charming town of Monroe, Wisconsin, then familiarizing yourself in advance with the city’s attractions should figure high on your list of priorities. Luckily, the “Swiss Cheese Capital of the USA” does not lack in things to see and do. So without further ado, here are 3 awesome things to do in Monroe, Wisconsin:

Minhas Craft Brewery: Visits to Monroe (or Madison for that matter) are never complete without Minhas Distillery brewery tours. The latter is one of the oldest micro breweries in the United States and offer visitors the opportunity to learn more about its history as well as craft beer in general. (And yes, that includes free samples!) The tour costs $10 per person and lasts between 45 to 60 minutes.

Roth Kase Cheese Factory: Of course a trip to the “Swiss Cheese Capital of the USA” would also not be complete without a visit to the Roth Kase Cheese Factory. The latter offers visitors a wonderful tour that should not be missed — regardless of whether you are a cheese lover or not! (Although liking cheese certainly helps because there’s bound to be free samples there too.)

Baumgartner’s Cheese Store & Tavern: On the square can be found this wonderful little tavern — a favourite among both locals and visitors. If you like cheese and craft beer, you’ll once again be treated quite nicely there. The tavern regularly gets praised for its unique ambiance and its excellent customer service.

And of course, if you ever find yourself in Monroe, don’t forget to spend a day or two in the history city of Madison, Wisconsin’s capital. The latter can be reached within a 45 minute drive from Monroe.
